A pseudonymous swing trader who posts Bitcoin plans with levels, invalidations and a bias that can flip in a week. It was bearish through June and July and called for “50k before 70k” on 7 July, but flipped long at the August lows: “TLDR: Higher” on 14 August came at $63,429, before Bitcoin reached $86,597 on 22 September.

In short. Trader Koala posts on X as @trader_koala to about 39,000 followers and does not name the person behind the account. It trades both ways and says so. On our sample of eleven posts from 23 March to 2 October — eight on Bitcoin, three on Ethereum — the record is 4 played out, 5 went against, 2 open. The good calls were the March dip-then-78k plan, the March Ethereum sub-$2,000 call, the June short to 62k–63k and the 14 August flip to long. The misses were the April and May upside targets, “50k before 70k”, the August Ethereum breakdown call and the late-August short.

Background — what is documented, and what is not

The account @trader_koala dates from September 2021 and has about 39,000 followers. Its bio reads “Building @the_koalabot | Partner @verantaxyz | Nothing I say is financial advice”. It writes in the first person — “I, Koala of CT” — but does not name the person behind it. We found no press coverage of its Bitcoin or Ethereum calls.

Its method is ranges and closes: range highs and lows, “deviations”, “SFPs” and weekly or three-day closes that decide whether a plan is still valid. Most posts name a level, a target and an invalidation, and the account closes and flips positions in public. It also runs live “Traders Talk” streams on X and a Discord bot, KoalaBot.

This page grades Bitcoin and Ethereum posts only. X search returned nothing for this account, so the reading list is its profile feed, which reached back to 2 February (635 of its own posts). We charted posts that name a target, a direction or a level we could test against later prices. We left out altcoin and meme-coin calls, posts that only say what the account would do if a level broke, and trades it opened and closed within a day or two, such as the 8 October swing long it closed on 9 October.

Trading style & philosophy

Levels first, bias second. Trader Koala gives a plan, a target and the close that would prove it wrong. That works best when it trades against the crowd: it flipped long at the August lows after two months of bearish posts, and its March and June calls hit their levels. It is weaker at holding a big-picture view: its April and May upside targets came before a 22% fall, and it stayed short in late August before Bitcoin rose another 9.6%. Its September “$98k before the end of the year” call is still open, and on 12 October it wrote that “Uptober has been cancelled”.

Outcomes are our read of the stated claim against real price, not the account's own scoring. Every quote is a verbatim X post, linked on its card and reproduced in full in the verified corpus. X's API writes the BTC and ETH token tags as “bitcoin:native” and “ethereum:native”, and we quote them as returned. Prices are CoinGecko daily marks taken at 00:00 UTC, so a post is measured from the mark at the start of its day, and intraday highs and lows do not show. Seven posts came late in the day: 23 March Ethereum at 22:39 UTC (next mark $2,152), 17 April at 21:44 UTC (next mark $77,126), 17 June at 19:27 UTC (next mark $64,445), 7 July at 23:58 UTC (next mark $63,335), 5 August at 23:00 UTC (next mark $1,907), 27 August at 20:53 UTC (next mark $80,268) and 2 October at 20:10 UTC (next mark $2,668). The “$1,000 in on their call” line assumes buying on the post date; for the bearish 17 June, 7 July, 5 August and 27 August cards, that line is not a short. Near-term marks can flip.

How they make money — and where the conflicts are

Trader Koala is a named partner of a trading platform and builds a trading bot. Here is what we found.

Trading-platform partner

The bio says “Partner @verantaxyz”. Veranta, formerly Avantis, is a decentralised derivatives exchange. Market videos in February were marked “In partnership with @avantisfi”, and the account posted an Avantis invite code on 14 August and praised the platform on 15 September and 6 October. We did not find the terms of the partnership.

KoalaBot

The account builds KoalaBot, a Discord bot. On 24 June it said the bot had “sniped” a Bitcoin long and was “100% Free”, with limited spots.

Own positions

The account says when it opens and closes Bitcoin and Ethereum longs and shorts, but not the size.
