An FX and crypto strategist at the exchange group LMAX whose own posts lean on Ethereum. He was too early on Ethereum in May, when he wrote of $2,400 that “I don’t think we’re that far away” at $2,131; it fell to $1,566 first. But his 6 July double-bottom call hit its $2,200 target on 20 August, and his September Bitcoin levels played out.

In short. Joel Kruger is a markets strategist at LMAX Group and is often quoted by CoinDesk on Bitcoin and Ethereum. On X he posts as @JoelKruger to about 30,000 followers, but rarely: 36 of his own posts fall in our price window. On our sample of seven calls from 14 April to 8 October — four on Ethereum, three on Bitcoin — the record is 5 played out, 1 went against, 1 open. The miss was his May call that Ethereum would soon clear $2,400. He repeated that bullish stance on 21 May, 28 May and 2 June while Ethereum kept falling.

Background — what is documented, and what is not

Joel Kruger is a markets strategist at LMAX Group, a London-based operator of institutional FX and crypto exchanges, including LMAX Digital. CoinDesk and other outlets quote him by name on Bitcoin and Ethereum several times a month. His X bio reads “Global Macro Strategist @LMAX // Digital Asset Fund Manager”. It does not name the fund, and we did not find it.

Weiss Ratings has an expert page for him as an NFT analyst and the editor of its NFT Wealth Builder publication. That page says he has “over two decades of experience with currencies” and calls him one of the world's most accurate Bitcoin forecasters. That is Weiss's marketing, not our finding, and this page tests his calls itself.

His method is chart levels and macro: double bottoms, measured moves and resistance levels, read against the dollar, Treasury yields and the Fed. On X he also posts FX trades, such as a EUR/USD long at 1.1165 in October.

This page grades Bitcoin and Ethereum calls only. X search returned nothing for this account, so the reading list is his profile feed (847 of his own posts since February 2025, 36 of them in our price window) plus CoinDesk articles that quote him. We charted his own posts and his own words in quotation marks. We left out CoinDesk's paraphrases of his levels, such as “$83,000 as the next major upside level” on 24 August. We also left out his 7 May “short equities/long eth from now into year end” trade, because it is a relative trade we cannot grade on Ethereum's price alone. LMAX's daily crypto notes are unsigned, so we did not quote them.

Trading style & philosophy

Levels with macro behind them. Joel names the level that would change the picture — $2,400 on Ethereum, $76,000 or $82,820 on Bitcoin — and ties it to the dollar, yields and the Fed. His best calls came near the lows: “buying when there's blood in the streets” on 5 June and the 6 July Ethereum double bottom. His weak spot is Ethereum enthusiasm that runs ahead of the chart: in May and early June he kept saying the turn was close while Ethereum fell another 26.5%.

Outcomes are our read of the stated claim against real price, not his own scoring. Every quote is verbatim from the page linked on its card: an X post, or a CoinDesk article quoting him in quotation marks. Prices are CoinGecko daily marks taken at 00:00 UTC, so a call is measured from the mark at the start of its day, and intraday highs and lows do not show. Four posts came later in the day: 5 June at 11:12 UTC (next mark $1,582), 6 July at 16:30 UTC (next mark $1,799), 15 September at 14:59 UTC (next mark $75,590) and 8 October at 15:26 UTC (next mark $2,473). The 2 September quote was from an email to CoinDesk published at 05:01 UTC that day. The 5 June post tagged both #bitcoin and #eth; we chart it on Ethereum and give the Bitcoin figures in the summary. Near-term marks can flip.
