A cycle analyst who reads Bitcoin through liquidity, on-chain cost bases and weekly momentum. In March, with Bitcoin near $68,000, he guessed the low would come in late Q2 or Q3. It came on 1 July at $58,566. In late April he warned of a final leg lower, and in August he called the rally a cycle turn, not a bounce. Both played out. His newest calls, a six-month Bitcoin model and a three-to-six-month Ether view, are still open.

In short. Jamie Coutts is the chief crypto analyst at Real Vision and posts on X as @Jamie1Coutts. On our sample of eight in-window posts the record is 5 played out, 3 open, 0 went against. The best call is the timing of the 2026 low. The weak spots are his April view that Bitcoin was close to its trough, which came three months and 14% early, and his own 2025 call for $170,000, which he says did not come.

Background — what is documented, and what is not

His X bio reads “Chief Crypto Analyst, @Realvision | Founder, Helios Analytics | Built the crypto research product, Bloomberg Intelligence”. His display name carries CMT, the Chartered Market Technician title. In a September 2026 post he wrote that he was a Real Vision subscriber for almost a decade before joining Raoul Pal to build its crypto product three years ago. The account lists Sydney as its location, and many of his posts are about Australian politics.

He grades himself in public. In June 2026 he wrote: “I called the 2022 Bitcoin bottom right. I called a top in September 2025, but not the definitive top. My thesis: a 30% correction, then a run to $170,000. The correction came. The continuation didn't.” That 2025 call is outside our price window, so we did not chart it.

Most of his posts are long threads on liquidity, debt, on-chain data and token economics. Clear Bitcoin or Ether calls are a minority. We read every own post in the window, about 240, and charted eight. Press coverage, such as GNcrypto in July, quotes his longer views too: $200,000 to $250,000 for Bitcoin within two to three years. Those are beyond our window, so we did not chart them.

Trading style & philosophy

Liquidity first, then the chart. Jamie starts from global liquidity, the dollar and bond-market stress, then checks on-chain cost bases and weekly RSI divergences, and only then looks for a setup. He gives probabilities, not targets, and says so: “Bitcoin value zones are probabilistic, not precise.” That makes his calls hard to grade on price, but his regime calls in 2026 were mostly right.

Short-term bearish, long-term bullish from March to June 2026. Bullish from the August turn, and on 9 September he wrote that he “went fully deployed on the August inflection”. On 21 September he warned that crypto “could easily see a 30%+ pullback” but called dips a time to buy quality names.

Bitcoin pulled back to $75,590 (−7.0%) on 16 September, far above the “high $60,000s” he said would still fit. Then it broke through to $86,597 (+6.6%) on 22 September and is at $84,793 (+4.3%). Cycle turn, not a bounce · ok

“It doesn't read as a normal countertrend rally. The 2018 & 2019 lows both had a volatility squeeze, followed by a big impulse move higher. Both were large in % terms but not as big as this one in volatility-adjusted terms. So a cycle inflection, not a counter-trend bounce, and the forward statistics support that.”

“And anecdotally, when the STH cost basis crossed below the True Mean Price in previous bear markets (green arrows on the chart), Bitcoin entered the final leg lower. That cross has happened again. Outcomes are our read of the stated claim against real price, not the trader's own scoring. Every quote is a verbatim X post, linked on its card and reproduced in full in the verified corpus. He posts from Australia, so several posts went out late in the UTC day. Each post is charted at that day's midnight CoinGecko mark, and where the next mark had already moved a lot, the card says so and grades from the later mark. We did not chart restatements. On 2 April he wrote that “BTC should be close to its trough”; the trough came three months later and 13.8% lower, at $58,566. On 9 September he said he was fully invested. Neither is a separate call from the ones shown here. We also left out posts about Bitcoin against gold, silver or tech stocks, and about altcoins.

How he makes money — and where the conflicts are

Jamie's posts on X are free. Here is how his analysis is paid for.

Real Vision

He is chief crypto analyst at Real Vision, a paid research platform. His posts point to its Pro and Alpha tiers, its sales and its pricing page, and to his reports and portfolio there. We could not load the pricing page, so we do not quote prices.

Tokens in his portfolio

In September 2026 he listed his main calls for the Pro portfolio, including Derive, Zcash and NEAR, and wrote that the portfolio went “up 2x in 2 months”. He posts about the same tokens on X. That portfolio is behind the paywall, so we could not check the claim, and we did not chart those tokens.

Helios Analytics

His bio lists him as founder of Helios Analytics. His posts mention its Trend Chameleon indicator, which Real Vision members get through TradingView. We found no separate price for it.

Straight answers

Who is Jamie Coutts?+

The chief crypto analyst at Real Vision, and before that the crypto analyst at Bloomberg Intelligence. He posts on X as @Jamie1Coutts, with about 51,000 followers, and holds the CMT charter. His profile lists Sydney as his location.

Is Jamie Coutts's analysis accurate?+

On our sample of eight dated posts from 23 March to 22 September 2026: five played out, three are open, none went against. He timed the 2026 low well. In his own words, his 2025 call for a run to $170,000 did not come.

Does Jamie Coutts sell research?+

Yes. He writes reports and runs a portfolio for paid Real Vision members, on the Pro and Alpha tiers. His posts on X are free.

What is a volatility squeeze?+

A stretch when price swings get unusually small. It tends to end with a big move. Jamie's studies say upside breaks after a squeeze have followed through more often than downside breaks. The squeeze itself does not say which way price will go.

What is Jamie Coutts's net worth?+

Not publicly known, and no credible figure exists. Ignore any specific number you see attached to the name.

How much do you trade like him?
