A chart technician first, crypto commentator second — Soloway trades Bitcoin alongside gold, oil and the S&P, and prices every call off horizontal levels, trend lines and candle structure. He gives numbers and invalidation levels, which makes him unusually easy to score. The catch: he is a short-term bull inside a long-term bear, so two of his calls can point opposite ways in the same week.

In short. Gareth Soloway is Chief Market Strategist and president of Verified Investing, the subscription research shop he co-founded in 2007 as InTheMoneyStocks. He is a classical technician: support and resistance, trend lines, reversal candles and his own named patterns, applied across crypto, equities, metals and energy. In crypto he is a swing trader, not a hodler — he says so explicitly — and he pairs near-term long setups with a standing forecast that this bear market ends below $50,000. That split is the thing to understand before reading any single call of his: the direction is usually the trade, not the thesis.

Background — from financial adviser to full-time chart reader

Soloway studied economics at Binghamton University and began his career on the financial-services side before leaving in 2004 to trade his own capital full time. In 2007 he and Nicholas Santiago launched InTheMoneyStocks, a chart-education and trade-alert business that was later rebranded Verified Investing. He has run it since, publishing daily technical breakdowns on YouTube and appearing regularly on finance-media interview shows such as The David Lin Report and Kitco.

His method is deliberately old-fashioned: horizontal levels, parallel channels, trend lines drawn off prior highs, reversal and inside-bar candle structure, plus proprietary tools he markets under names like the PPT Methodology, the Confirmation Signal and Three Tail Theory. Verified Investing advertises an 80%+ win rate on 300+ swing-trade alerts a year since 2007 — that is a marketing claim on his own site, it is not independently audited, and nothing on this page attempts to verify it. What this page does instead is score the calls he made in public, with dates.

That record includes misses we could date but could not quote. On 3 May 2026, in an interview with David Lin, he said Bitcoin was forming a bear flag that could take it down roughly 38% to $50,000 unless it cleared $85,000. Bitcoin's worst print after that was $58,566 — a 25.6% fall, and never close to $50,000 — so the call was wrong on the level and on the size. It sits in the biography rather than on a card only because none of the outlets covering that interview carried a verbatim Bitcoin quote, and this dossier charts nothing it cannot quote. A second in-window near-miss cuts the other way: on 13 February 2026, one day before this chart window opens, he posted that $80,000–$85,000 was the likely upside — Bitcoin's actual high across the whole window was $82,018.

Trading style & philosophy

Classical price-action technical analysis, applied identically to Bitcoin, gold, oil and the S&P. Soloway works top-down from long trend lines and prior pivot highs, then trades the retest: a reversal candle, an inside-bar cluster that fails to break the reversal low, a channel band tagged and held. He names the trigger, the target and the invalidation level — which is why his calls can be graded at all — and he sizes out in halves on the way up rather than holding for the move. The weaknesses show up on this page: his time frames slip badly (a "days to weeks" target that lands in seven weeks), his own invalidation levels break without him abandoning the target, and his standing macro bear case tempts him to fade the very breakouts he just called.

Deliberately two-sided: tactically long the bounces, structurally bearish until Bitcoin puts in what he calls the final flush below $50,000. He flips fast — he called a breakout on 5 August and was short by 23 August.

Track record — his calls, charted

Dated, in-window calls with a verbatim quote attached — from press that quotes him directly, from his own X posts, and in one case from the title of his own upload — each charted against real CoinGecko price from the day he said it. Where an outlet only paraphrased him (his July $73–74k Bitcoin and $2,000 Ethereum targets, for instance, or the 3 May bear-flag call to $50,000) the call is not charted, because we will not put words in quotation marks that nobody printed. Those are disclosed in the biography instead. He gives real levels, so these are graded on his own numbers.

With Bitcoin at $80,329 he refused to call a new bull market: the prior pivot high at $82,865 was still untagged, so on his definition this is still lower highs and lower lows — while conceding the recent price action looked “very, very good”. Four days later the pivot is still unbroken (our series peaked at $81,265 on 4 Sep) and BTC has slipped to $77,147, −4.0% below him. His “capped” read is holding so far, but it is four days old — open.

Eighteen days after calling the breakout he took the other side, and said so in his own title, published at $77,081. Bitcoin did not stop: it ran to $81,265 on 4 Sep, +5.4% straight through the short, and never traded meaningfully below him (worst dip −0.7%). It has since round-tripped to $77,147, so the position is about flat (+0.1%) — it simply never worked, and it fought the trend he himself had called correctly three weeks earlier.

“Bitcoin on the verge of an epic breakout. Trendline extends from the all-time high in Oct 2025 to the May 2026 highs to recent highs. A break of this trendline sends it to 15%+ imo.”

Posted at $64,062, and it paid. Bitcoin first dipped −1.9% to $62,844 on 17 Aug, then broke out: his +15% level ($73,671) was cleared on 22 Aug and price peaked at $81,265 on 4 Sep, +26.9% above him. It sits at $77,147 today, +20.4%. The single best entry on this page — and, as the card above shows, one he then traded against.

$60K leg delivered

A clean conditional, posted at $74,340: if the channel band breaks, $60K then $50K. It broke. Bitcoin printed $59,727 on 26 Jun and bottomed at $58,566 on 1 Jul — −21.2%, his first leg almost to the dollar. The second leg, $50K, never arrived; price turned there and is back to $77,147 (+3.8% above him). Right on the break, right on the target, wrong that it kept going.

His most bullish chart of the four, held from an average entry near $82, with half the position to come off near $100, more at $105, best case $118. Said at $91.62 — and Solana went the wrong way first, −32.1% to $62.18 by 7 Jun, well under his own entry. The targets did land, just five months late: $100 on 27 Aug, $105 on 28 Aug, a peak of $109.18 (+19.2%), now $101.32 (+10.6%). $118 never came. Direction right, timing badly wrong.

He restated the $80,000–$85,000 target and named $68,000 as the line that kept it alive, while warning the macro breakdown wins eventually. Both halves half-landed. Said at $70,987, his $68,000 support broke four days later ($66,330 on 28 Mar), which on his own terms killed the setup — yet Bitcoin still reached $82,018 on 11 May, +15.5%. And the bigger pattern did take over: from there price fell to $58,566 on 1 Jul, −17.5%. Target hit, invalidation hit first — ambiguous.

How he makes money — and where the conflicts are

Soloway sells research, not tokens — the product is a subscription to his own levels. That removes the coin-shilling conflict and replaces it with a subtler one: a paid alert service is sold on a track record, so the public calls double as marketing for the private ones.

Verified Investing subscriptions

The core business: swing-trade alerts across stocks, crypto and commodities, a live day-trading room, courses and a long-term investing program. He is president and chief market strategist of the firm.

An advertised win rate we did not verify

Verified Investing markets an 80%+ success rate on 300+ alerts a year since 2007. That is his company's own claim on his company's own site — unaudited, not reproducible from public data, and not the basis of anything on this page.

Media appearances as a funnel

Regular interviews on finance-media channels (The David Lin Report, Kitco and similar) and a daily YouTube feed. The free analysis is real analysis; it is also the top of the subscription funnel, so expect the strongest levels to be teased rather than fully shown.

Who is Gareth Soloway?+

A US technical analyst and full-time trader, chief market strategist and president of Verified Investing — the research and trade-alert firm he co-founded in 2007 as InTheMoneyStocks. He trades and charts crypto alongside equities, metals and energy, and is a frequent finance-media interview guest.

What is Gareth Soloway's net worth?+

Not publicly verified. His income comes from Verified Investing subscriptions, courses and his own trading. Ignore any specific figure you see quoted — none is confirmed.

Is Gareth Soloway's track record good?+

Mixed, and unusually checkable because he gives levels. Across the eight dated calls charted here, three played out, four are still open or ambiguous and one went against him. His best was the 5 August breakout call (+26.9% at the peak); his worst was flipping short into that same breakout on 23 August. He also called for Bitcoin to fall 38% to $50,000 on 3 May 2026 — it bottomed at $58,566.

What is Gareth Soloway's strategy?+

Classical price-action technical analysis: horizontal support and resistance, trend lines drawn off prior highs, parallel channels, and reversal/inside-bar candle structure, with a named trigger, target and invalidation on each trade. He swing-trades in and out, scaling out in halves, and holds a standing view that this crypto bear market ends with a flush below $50,000.

How much do you trade like him?

Soloway trades levels, not stories: a trigger, a target, an invalidation, and out in halves. How close is your instinct — measure it for real with a Trader Passport.
