“Pomp” — US Army veteran turned Facebook/Snapchat operator turned crypto's most relentless Bitcoin salesman. He runs a podcast, a newsletter and a public Bitcoin treasury company, which means his commentary and his balance sheet point the same way. One thesis, repeated for years: governments print, Bitcoin absorbs it.

Real name Anthony PomplianoFocus Bitcoin · macro · debasementVentures ProCap Financial · The Pomp PodcastBase United States

In short. Anthony Pompliano is a Bitcoin-only macro voice with an unusually direct conflict of interest: he is chairman and CEO of ProCap Financial, a listed company whose entire strategy is holding Bitcoin. His public case almost never involves charts — it is monetary debasement, institutional adoption and holding for years. That makes him structurally right over long horizons and repeatedly early over short ones: through the 2026 drawdown he stayed loudly bullish while Bitcoin fell to $58,566, and his own stock fell 85% from its peak. He also called the June low better than almost anyone. Both are on the record below.

Background — from the Army to a Bitcoin balance sheet

Pompliano served in the U.S. Army, including deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, before moving into technology with product and growth roles at Facebook and Snapchat. He co-founded Morgan Creek Digital in 2018 and launched The Pomp Podcast and The Pomp Letter the same year, building one of the largest personal audiences in finance media — roughly 1.8M followers on X and 648K YouTube subscribers.

Today he is chairman and CEO of ProCap Financial (ticker BRR), a publicly traded Bitcoin treasury company. This is the single most important thing to know before reading anything he says about Bitcoin: he is talking his own book, in public, by design. He takes a $1 salary, put $1m of personal money into the stock in December 2025, and earns no equity compensation unless BRR trades at $15 a share. The stock closed at $2.42 in late February 2026 — down about 76% in six months and 85% from its peak — while the company bought back its own shares at a discount to net asset value.

His record cuts both ways and we log both. He has never wavered on the long-run thesis, and in June 2026 he called for a 10–15% rebound off the lows within days of the actual bottom. But in August 2025 he called $112–113k Bitcoin “pretty oversold” and said it would “come back alive again” from September — Bitcoin peaked at about $126,198 that October and then lost more than half its value. And through the spring of 2026 he was bullish the entire way down.

Trading style & philosophy

Thesis-driven, not chart-driven. Pompliano argues from the money supply down: deficits, debt and central-bank balance sheets debase the dollar, so a fixed-supply asset must eventually absorb that. He layers on institutional adoption (ETFs, corporate treasuries, Wall Street participation) and on-chain holder data — long-term holder supply, exchange balances, short-term-holder cost basis — to argue that selling pressure is drying up. What he almost never does is time anything: he says so himself, and his own record proves it. Expect direction and conviction, not levels or invalidation points.

About as structurally bullish as a public commentator gets — and paid to be. He has no bearish scenario for Bitcoin beyond “it takes longer than you want,” and his company's balance sheet is the trade.

Track record — his calls, charted

Dated statements from his 2026 appearances and posts, charted against real Bitcoin price. Pompliano is a thesis voice, so most of these are directional and open-ended (“this is what you buy when it's out of favour”, “over the long run”) rather than levels — we judge near-term claims on what price did next, and open-ended theses stay open until price clearly settles them. The pattern the chart shows is real: he was bullish through a 23% drawdown in the spring, then read the June low unusually well.

A near-term posture statement — “right now” — made with BTC at $76,326. What followed was the worst stretch of the year: Bitcoin fell 23.3% to $58,566 by 1 July. Four months on it is only +3.3% versus the day he said it. The direction eventually came back; the timing was badly wrong, so this is marked against him. On CNBC he called Bitcoin “a dog with fleas” while AI names were “flying” — and said that is exactly what you buy. It is an explicit over-time thesis, so we log it open. From $74,340 the day he said it, BTC first fell 21.2% to $58,566 and is now +6.1%. Right idea, painful path, not yet settled.

His most specific and testable claim of the year, built on four on-chain data points from Binance Research, with BTC at $73,599. A new wave of selling arrived almost immediately: Bitcoin lost 20.4% over the next month to $58,566. It has since recovered to +7.1% versus that day, but the call itself was falsified within weeks.

His best call of the window, and by some distance. Said with BTC at $61,480, it took just 4.7% more downside to the $58,566 low on 1 July — then the rebound came in at +28.2%, roughly double the 10–15% he asked for. On the same appearance he said the crypto industry's tail is dead and will not return. One caveat, stated plainly: the write-up's own summary framed the bottom as “late Q3 to early Q4”; it actually landed on 1 July.

The core Pompliano trade, stated as plainly as he has ever put it, on Fox Business with BTC at $64,861. It is an explicitly long-run claim — “Bitcoin will go up over the long run, so will gold, real estate, and stocks” — so it is logged open, but the fortnight since has gone his way: a shallow −3.1% dip and then +21.6% into the CLARITY Act rally.

How he makes money — and where the conflicts are

Pompliano's incentives are unusually legible, and unusually large. Most commentators sell attention; he also runs a listed company whose share price depends on people believing what he says about Bitcoin. Nothing here is hidden — but you should price it in.

Bitcoin treasury company

Chairman and CEO of ProCap Financial (BRR), which holds thousands of BTC. He is paid a $1 salary and gets no equity compensation unless the stock reaches $15 — from $2.42 in February 2026 that would require roughly a 520% move. His upside is entirely a higher Bitcoin price.

Straight answers

Who is Anthony Pompliano?+

A US Army veteran and former Facebook and Snapchat operator who became one of the best-known Bitcoin advocates in finance media. He co-founded Morgan Creek Digital, hosts The Pomp Podcast, writes The Pomp Letter, and is chairman and CEO of ProCap Financial, a publicly traded Bitcoin treasury company.

What is Anthony Pompliano's net worth?+

Not publicly verified. Published estimates circulate but none is confirmed, and a large share of his wealth is tied to Bitcoin and to ProCap Financial stock — which fell about 85% from its peak into early 2026. Treat any specific figure with suspicion.

Is Anthony Pompliano's advice reliable?+

He is a commentator and a company CEO, not a licensed adviser, and he has a direct financial interest in Bitcoin going up. His long-run thesis has been consistent; his timing has not. In our 2026 sample he read the June low well and was wrong through the spring. Treat his views as a documented, dated opinion — never trade them blindly.

What is Anthony Pompliano's strategy?+

Buy Bitcoin and hold it for years. He argues from money supply and government debt rather than charts, supports it with institutional adoption and on-chain holder data, and openly says picking the timeline is the hardest part of any forecast.
