@GarethSoloway
A chart technician first, crypto commentator second — Soloway trades Bitcoin alongside gold, oil and the S&P, and prices every call off horizontal levels, trend lines and candle structure. He gives numbers and invalidation levels, which makes him unusually easy to score. The catch: for most of 2026 he was a short-term bull inside a long-term bear, so two of his calls can point opposite ways in the same week.
En resumen. Gareth Soloway is Chief Market Strategist and president of Verified Investing, the subscription research shop he co-founded in 2007 as InTheMoneyStocks. He is a classical technician: support and resistance, trend lines, reversal candles and his own named patterns, applied across crypto, equities, metals and energy. In crypto he is a swing trader, not a hodler — he says so explicitly — and for most of 2026 he paired near-term long setups with a standing forecast that this bear market would end below $50,000 — until 21 September, when he declared it over and set a $175,000 cycle target. That split is the thing to understand before reading any single call of his: the direction is usually the trade, not the thesis.
That record includes misses we could date but could not quote. On 3 May 2026, in an interview with David Lin, he said Bitcoin was forming a bear flag that could take it down roughly 38% to $50,000 unless it cleared $85,000. Bitcoin's worst print after that was $58,566 — a 25.6% fall, and never close to $50,000 — so the call was wrong on the level and on the size. It sits in the biography rather than on a card only because none of the outlets covering that interview carried a verbatim Bitcoin quote, and this dossier charts nothing it cannot quote. A second in-window near-miss cuts the other way: on 13 February 2026, before this chart window opens, he posted that $80,000–$85,000 was the likely upside — Bitcoin topped at $82,018 in May and did not clear $85,000 until 22 September.

Deliberately two-sided for most of 2026 — tactically long the bounces, structurally bearish toward a final flush below $50,000 — until 21 September, when he declared the bear market over and set a $175,000 target. He flips fast: he called a breakout on 5 August, was short by 23 August, and called the bear market intact five days before calling it over.
Dated, in-window calls with a verbatim quote attached — from press that quotes him directly, from his own X posts, and in three cases from the titles of his own uploads — each charted against real CoinGecko price from the day he said it. Where an outlet only paraphrased him (his July $73–74k Bitcoin and $2,000 Ethereum targets, for instance, or the 3 May bear-flag call to $50,000) the call is not charted, because we will not put words in quotation marks that nobody printed. Those are disclosed in the biography instead. He gives real levels, so these are graded on his own numbers.
“Bitcoin Bear Market Is Over, My $175,000 Target”
The flip, in his own title, published at $84,382 two days after Bitcoin printed $86,597 — the higher high over the prior swing high he had said the bear market needed. The upload's description says the $175,000 comes from a roughly 1,000-day low-to-top cycle count and a pivot-high trend line extended to 2029, with $75,500 and $66,000–$67,000 named as pullback buy levels. The target is +107.4% away. Five days in, Bitcoin is $83,145, −1.5% below him — a multi-year call, open.

Published with Bitcoin at $75,590, which turned out to be the low of the whole move: no day in our series has closed lower since. His line in the sand held, by $90. The other half of the title did not. Six days later Bitcoin printed $86,597 (+14.6%), above the roughly $82,800 high he said it had to clear. On 21 Sep his own upload declared the bear market over. It is $83,145 today, +10.0% above him. He read the level well, but the “gaining strength” thesis was wrong.

With Bitcoin at $80,329 he refused to call a new bull market: the prior pivot high at $82,865 was still untagged, so on his definition this is still lower highs and lower lows — while conceding the recent price action looked “very, very good”. The cap held for two weeks, and Bitcoin first slid to $75,590 (−5.9%) on 16 Sep. Then it went through: $86,597 on 22 Sep, +7.8% above him and clear of his pivot, and he declared the bear market over himself. It is $83,145 today, +3.5%. His “not yet” was right for a fortnight. The cap did not hold.

Eighteen days after calling the breakout he took the other side, and said so in his own title, published at $77,081. Bitcoin did not stop: it ran to $81,265 on 4 Sep, +5.4% straight through the short, dipped only −1.9% below him ($75,590 on 16 Sep), then broke out to $86,597 on 22 Sep, +12.3% against him. At $83,145 today it is +7.9% above his short — it never worked, and it fought the trend he himself had called correctly three weeks earlier.

Posted at $64,062, and it paid. Bitcoin first dipped −1.9% to $62,844 on 17 Aug, then broke out: his +15% level ($73,671) was cleared on 22 Aug and price has since peaked at $86,597 on 22 Sep, +35.2% above him. It sits at $83,145 today, +29.8%. The single best entry on this page — and, as the 23 Aug card shows, one he then traded against.

A clean conditional, posted at $74,340: if the channel band breaks, $60K then $50K. It broke. Bitcoin printed $59,727 on 26 Jun and bottomed at $58,566 on 1 Jul — −21.2%, his first leg almost to the dollar. The second leg, $50K, never arrived; price turned there and is back to $83,145 (+11.8% above him). Right on the break, right on the target, wrong that it kept going.
𝕏 PostGareth Soloway on X — “toward $60K, then $50K”↗ x.com“This one is actually looking the most bullish”
His most bullish chart of the four, held from an average entry near $82, with half the position to come off near $100, more at $105, best case $118. Said at $91.62 — and Solana went the wrong way first, −32.1% to $62.18 by 7 Jun, well under his own entry. The targets did land, just late: $100 on 27 Aug, $105 on 28 Aug, and his best case $118 on 22 Sep, six months after he said it. Solana peaked at $122.08 on 26 Sep (+33.2%) and is $117.82 now (+28.6%). Every target printed, but only after a drop well below his own entry. It played out, with badly wrong timing.

He restated the $80,000–$85,000 target and named $68,000 as the line that kept it alive, while warning the macro breakdown wins eventually. Both halves half-landed. Said at $70,987, his $68,000 support broke four days later ($66,330 on 28 Mar), which on his own terms killed the setup — yet Bitcoin still reached $82,018 on 11 May, +15.5%. The bigger pattern then took over: price fell to $58,566 on 1 Jul, −17.5%. The top of his zone finally printed six months on, $86,597 on 22 Sep (+22.0%), and BTC is $83,145 today, +17.1%. The whole target was hit, but his invalidation was hit first, so this stays ambiguous.

Said at $2,107, and his trigger fired the next day — Ethereum closed above $2,150 on 16 Mar. “Look out above” then half-worked: ETH ran to $2,421 on 18 Apr (+14.9%), rolled over, and gave it all back to $1,566 on 26 Jun (−25.7%). His $2,600 target finally printed on 19 Sep ($2,612), six months on, and ETH peaked at $2,775 on 22 Sep (+31.7%). It is $2,666 today, +26.5%. Target hit, but only after a round trip through a −25.7% drawdown.

Said at $71,149. The $74,000 trigger broke two days later, on 17 Mar, and the lower half of his zone printed: Bitcoin reached $80,914 on 6 May and $82,018 on 11 May, +15.3%. The top of his zone took far longer: $85,000 did not print until 22 Sep, when BTC hit $86,597, +21.7%. It is +16.9% at $83,145 today. The route was not straight — BTC first fell to $65,947 (−7.3%) on 30 Mar, and later to $58,566. He also called himself “a short-term bull… days to weeks”; $80k took seven weeks and $85k six months.

Mixed, and unusually checkable because he gives levels. Across the ten dated calls charted here, five played out, two are still open or ambiguous and three went against him. His best was the 5 August breakout call (+35.2% at the peak); his worst was flipping short into that same breakout on 23 August. He also called for Bitcoin to fall 38% to $50,000 on 3 May 2026 — it bottomed at $58,566.
Classical price-action technical analysis: horizontal support and resistance, trend lines drawn off prior highs, parallel channels, and reversal/inside-bar candle structure, with a named trigger, target and invalidation on each trade. He swing-trades in and out, scaling out in halves, and until 21 September 2026 held a standing view that this crypto bear market would end with a flush below $50,000 — when Bitcoin printed a higher high above its prior swing high, he declared the bear market over and set a $175,000 cycle target.
