His weakness is the flip side: when he does lean directional he can lean at exactly the wrong moment, as he did on the $84K CME gap in early May, and again with $88K+ in late September.

Range-first Bitcoin technicals. Daan works top-down from a high-timeframe box — for most of 2026 that box was $60K–$80K — and then asks which edge is in play. Inside it he leans on a small, repeatable toolkit: the weekly and daily 200 moving averages, the bull-market support band, CME futures gaps as short-term magnets, and exchange liquidation heatmaps to find where liquidity is stacked. Calls are usually framed as conditions rather than predictions (“a daily close above X flips the story; a close under Y kills the momentum”), which makes them unusually easy to grade. The cost of that discipline is that he rarely commits early — and the times in this window he did commit to an upside target — the $84K gap in early May, $88K+ in late September — each came within a week of a local top.
Close to neutral by design. Daan's default is “this is a range until proven otherwise” — he turned bearish on the May breakdown, refused to turn bearish at the June lows, turned constructive in July, leaned bullish into the September breakout and stepped aside again in early October. He is a level-follower, not a permabull or permabear.
Fifteen dated statements from the last five months of the price window, each one machine-checked against its source page before it was charted: the quote appears verbatim on the page, and the page's own publication date matches the date on the card. Nine come from Cointelegraph's markets desk quoting his X posts as they were written; six are the X posts themselves, captured through the syndication endpoint. Two caveats you should weigh. First, selection bias: these are the posts a newsroom chose to quote, which skews toward his most quotable moments — this is not a complete log of everything he said. Second, his calls are conditional by nature, so we grade them on whether the condition he named actually decided the tape, not on whether he picked a number.

With the $85K floor just lost and about $500M of longs liquidated, he pointed to open interest at its range high and a Coinbase premium “deep in the negative” — spot selling — and drew the line. The bulls never retook it: no daily mark since has come back above $83,691. From $85,540 (that day's midnight mark; he posted at 07:34 UTC, after the break, so his own entry into the move was lower) Bitcoin has slid to $81,512 (−4.7%) today. A day later he wrote “No reason for me to participate in the long side” until the selling cleared.

A rare unconditional lean from him: tokenization news and strong ETH flows meant a repricing to $3K+ — it “Just needs a little push.” ETH was $2,688. The push never came. It peaked at $2,726 (+1.4%) on 5 October without breaking the $2.8K resistance he had flagged all month, then fell to $2,420 (−10.0%); by 10 October he was calling it “an ugly rejection” and waiting for confirmation. He gave no deadline, so it stays open — but from today's $2,426 (−9.7%), $3K is another +23.7% away.

The trigger and the target in one post — with a condition attached: “you need to keep seeing daily closes above $83K.” BTC was $83,479. The trigger fired: on 5 October Bitcoin closed at $86,490 (+3.6%). That was the top. $88K never came — the high stopped 1.7% short — and on 9 October it closed at $81,686 (−2.1%), breaking the very condition he set. Today $81,512 (−2.4%). The $83K line was his own, and he respected it: by 7 October he had turned cautious (next card).

With Bitcoin at $76,147, just after it swept the August lows, he said most of the liquidity below had been taken and named the two clusters left above as “magnets” that “could cause a further squeeze up.” Price never closed lower again — worst dip +0.0%. It hit $80,874 (+6.2%) two days later, $81,236 (+6.7%) the day after, and squeezed through both clusters to $86,597 (+13.7%) on 22 September. Today $81,512 (+7.0%).

Another if/then, and he added: “until $67K is broken, we are just chopping sideways.” BTC was $64,263 and chopped for eleven more days — low $62,844 (−2.2%). On 20 August it closed above $67K at $69,291 (+7.8%), and “exciting” was an understatement: the $69K–$72K resistance he flagged barely slowed it, and two days later it was at $78,318 (+21.9%). It peaked at $86,597 (+34.8%) and sits at $81,512 (+26.8%) today. The trigger was right; the resistance zone was overrated.

With BTC at $62,820 he refused to call a direction and named the two triggers instead. Both halves landed: price chopped in a $62,773–$64,917 band for the next nineteen days — a low of just −0.1% — then broke the local highs on 20 August exactly as he framed it. The move has since run as far as $86,597 (+37.8%); it sits at $81,512 (+29.8%) today.

The $65K ceiling had rejected Bitcoin all month and most desks were calling for lower. Daan read the higher lows underneath it as pressure building upward. BTC was $64,670; it dipped just 2.9% to $62,773, then broke $65K and has since run as far as $86,597 (+33.9%). Today $81,512 (+26.0%). He also named ~$67,000 as where price would “break into a bullish market structure” — it did.

In Bitcoin's worst week of 2026 he stayed short-side and named where it should stop: “Key area here in the low $60Ks least with the Weekly 200MA too.” Both held up. From $64,047 BTC fell a further 8.6% to $58,566 — a shallow undercut of the zone he flagged — and that was the bottom. It has since run as far as $86,597 (+35.2%) and sits at $81,512 (+27.3%).

A pure volatility-expansion call — he explicitly declined to say which way. It played out, violently, to the downside: from $79,069 Bitcoin lost 25.9% to $58,566 over the following six weeks. Grade it for what it was: he said the coil would snap hard and it did, but a reader who wanted a direction did not get one. He also flagged $71,000 as the nearest liquidity below — price went straight through it. Bitcoin has since recovered to $81,512 (+3.1%).

The third leg has not come yet: the high is only 5.6% above his trigger, and price has slipped back to $81,512 (+2.8%), 0.6% below it. Two of three legs done but price is back under the trigger, so it stays open — and is now leaning against him.
