Crypto Mason's call on XRP for October 17, 2026: where the author expects the price to go and which levels matter. Other bloggers' calls are added here during the day. This is the author's opinion, not investment advice.
Crypto Mason points out that a significant portion of XRP is in escrow, and DeFi’s expanding footprint should add to the asset’s value over time.
By his reckoning, 31 billion XRP are held in escrow and are off limits unless one has the authority; this represents about 31.4% of the 100 billion total supply. The other 68.6% can be found with Ripple Labs, institutional holders, and on exchanges (22 percent) or with retail investors (17 percent), the latter being the smallest segment when they are on an exchange.
There are considerable XRP reserves under the control of venues such as Upbit and Coinbase, he points out. The last of the escrowed XRP will not be released until June 2029, with disbursements set to continue for another 32 months. He sees the way projects like Flare and Doppler Finance are making inroads in DeFi as an indication of future demand. For holders, Crypto Mason recommends taking a long-term view and resisting the urge to sell until the price reaches at least $10 or $20.
