Citi Upgrades Galaxy and Gemini, Downgrades Securitize Before Q3

In a reassessment of the crypto infrastructure space prior to Q3 earnings, Citi has upgraded Galaxy and Gemini. The bank has also issued a word of caution to investors regarding Securitize.

Citi’s Latest Crypto Ratings Shake Up

Citi’s revised outlook for Galaxy and Gemini, both heavily involved in building crypto infrastructure, is reported by CoinDesk. However, the major bank has taken a different view of Securitize, downgrading the tokenization specialist due to what it sees as technical shortcomings and the volatility of its shares. Such actions from Citi indicate the confidence major financial institutions are placing in where the next round of growth in the industry may be found.

There is a warning in the downgrade of Securitize. Analysts at Citi advise investors to be more cautious with the firm given its stock price instability and unresolved technology risks; this is part of how the bank manages risk in a cryptocurrency sector that is in constant flux.

Tokenization: The Next Big Trend?

Still, Citi concedes that when the market matures, firms like Bullish and Securitize that focus on the tokenization of real assets may well be the ones to profit. With the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ set to begin trading tokenized assets, the report from CoinDesk notes that investor interest in tokenization will be piqued—a process that puts stocks or real estate into blockchain tokens and makes them easier to trade.

Avalanche, for instance, is a case in point. The tokenization platform enables institutional investors to create their own blockchains with regulatory and access parameters. It foresees the tokenization of real assets picking up considerable steam in 2027, and with it, greater appetite for the likes of Galaxy and Gemini.

Winners in Changing Market Conditions

Then there is Circle. As a stablecoin and payments agency, it is well positioned to make the most of the headwinds in the market. An analysis by CoinDesk suggests that in an environment of low liquidity and persistent inflation, the stability of its product will give Circle an advantage over more volatile cryptocurrencies.

All of this helps explain the significance of Citi’s upgrades for Galaxy and Gemini. In a landscape of new regulations and technology, those companies with a diversified portfolio and robust infrastructure are likely to win over investors as tokenization and stablecoins take center stage in the coming period of expansion.
