Morgan Stanley Tokenizes US Shares and Bonds on Blockchain

The announcement from Morgan Stanley on 3 November 2026 that it would put US shares and bonds on the blockchain did little to ruffle XRP. While the Wall Street heavyweight made headlines for its foray into tokenization, XRP’s value remained steady.

Morgan Stanley’s Blockchain Move with DTCC

In unveiling a new DTCC service for its financial instruments, Morgan Stanley said it would use distributed ledger technology to bring greater transparency and efficiency to settlement in conventional markets. The move drew attention in both crypto and traditional finance circles.

Market Response: XRP Stays Unaffected

Some in the XRP community were quick to wonder if the tokenization of shares and bonds might siphon off demand for their holdings, but the numbers told a different story: a 0.4% fluctuation at most. The host of Cheeky Crypto attributed this to the market coming to terms with the fact that Morgan Stanley has no need for XRP in its payment or settlement arrangements.

For funds on the XRP blockchain, the XRP token is not part of the transaction layer for such tokenized assets. The Morgan Stanley news was thus indicative of how unconnected XRP is to these types of projects from traditional finance, putting any fears of a drop in value to rest.

What’s Next for XRP?

One does not have to look to external tokenization for shifts in XRP’s price or demand; the two are not directly linked. As was made clear in the latest episode of Cheeky Crypto, what will dictate XRP’s path is the utility and activity of its own ecosystem. Unless a major institution makes a point of using XRP as an asset of some substance, the performance of the token will be a function of innovation in its native network and nothing more.
