Elon Musk Warns AI Debt Market Is Drying Up, Electrum Vulnerability Found

Elon Musk has issued a warning that the AI debt market is on the decline, and for some artificial intelligence companies this means capital is hard to obtain. There is also the matter of Electrum, a veteran among Bitcoin wallets, which has been found to have a vulnerability of significant consequence to its users’ funds.

Elon Musk: AI Debt Market Faces Major Crunch

In a conversation with CoinDesk, Musk said the AI debt market is quickly becoming inaccessible to many. Companies like SpaceX can still provide collateral for high-end hardware such as graphics processors because they have the revenues to support it, not least from Starlink and their rocket program; that kind of creditworthiness allows them to borrow even as conditions tighten. But for a company investing heavily in AI data centers without outside income to show for it, accessing the debt markets is nearly impossible. Musk says the market has closed its doors to such operators, creating an obstacle for any new firm wanting to invest in technology or grow.

Electrum Bitcoin Wallet Vulnerability Exposes Funds

On the cybersecurity front, a critical flaw has been uncovered in Electrum. Researchers say the defect would allow an attacker to substitute a pending payment with a fraudulent one and have the user’s coins end up at the attacker’s address, putting thousands at risk. A patch has been issued in version 4.8.3 by Electrum, though those on older versions remain exposed; an update is recommended without delay to safeguard one’s holdings.

Growing Pressure From Banks on Crypto Transactions

Traditional banks are another source of pressure for crypto users. Some 10,000 complaints have been filed over the last three months of summer alone about banks making it difficult to buy cryptocurrency. This trend is supported by a study from earlier in the year: 40 percent of fund transfers to registered exchanges were either delayed or blocked. All of this points to more friction between the two industries and raises concerns as to whether retail and corporate players in digital assets will be able to get the financial access they need.
