The $5 billion heist at Binance is the talk of the town; in a record-setting move, hackers have made off with that much from the exchange’s hot wallets. Such a spectacle is sure to put selling pressure on altcoins and has traders keeping a close eye on BNB and HYPE to see what happens next.

A report from the channel КРИПТО ИЛЬЯ | ОБЗОРЫ confirms the hackers’ successful breach of Binance, resulting in an unprecedented withdrawal of $5 billion. The scale of the hack raises questions about the security measures of any centralized crypto exchange and has caused quite an upset in the market, leaving some to doubt the safety of their holdings on major platforms.

On his charts, the host of КРИПТО ИЛЬЯ | ОБЗОРЫ was seeing technical signs of a downturn in BNB as far back as September. He says the coin hit a formidable monthly resistance prior to the hack and it was only a matter of time before the price gave way. The resistance acted as a ceiling, and the latest events have hastened the devaluation of BNB. In fact, he recalls his earlier analysis which cautioned about the possibility of sharp moves; had they been heeded, some of the losses now being felt could have been avoided.

HYPE, for its part, has been the subject of a strong short squeeze. The channel suggests that the HYPE coin may well be set to break the $100 mark. As for the rest of the market, there is growing interest in decentralized protocols and exchanges as a way to avoid the kind of security lapses that have become the bane of centralized operations.

The trader also took note of Circle’s tokenized shares in his review. They can be found on crypto futures exchanges at $71.20, with a stop loss in place should the daily candle close below $69.8. It is a case of making the most of opportunities and hedging one’s bets in the wake of the uncertainty the Binance hack has brought about.
