Paul Sztorc is about to turn the crypto world on its head with an eCash Bitcoin fork of his own making. A decade of pushing for Bitcoin to be upgraded has culminated in this launch, one that will put free coins in the hands of Bitcoin holders and introduce some of the novel features the community has been discussing for a while.<\/p>\n
Sztorc has made no secret of his desire to see the Bitcoin ecosystem improved over the last ten years or so, yet he has run up against the conservative core of the community. The unyielding resistance to any new functionality in Bitcoin was what prompted him to act on his own, and with eCash he intends to make his case for a cryptocurrency with greater versatility.<\/p>\n
The fork is slated for block 973728, expected to be mined on or about October 29. In Sztorc’s view, eCash is a way forward for those who think Bitcoin must change with the times.<\/p>\n
Much like the July 7, 2017 Bitcoin fork before it, eCash will see users receive free tokens. Holders of Bitcoin in a non-custodial wallet at the time of the fork will be able to claim eCash. On the DOUBLETOP Now channel it was noted that this is a means of rewarding the faithful and providing an incentive to hold one\u2019s own private keys; the airdrop is only open to those with full control of their funds.<\/p>\n
eCash is not to be confused with earlier forks as being a mere clone of Bitcoin. According to the DOUBLETOP Now broadcast, while the transaction history of Bitcoin is preserved, a new layer is added to accommodate app stores and decentralized marketplaces and to build out payment networks in a more robust fashion, all to overcome what has prevented Bitcoin from going mainstream.<\/p>\n
With the fork, there is already talk among early adopters and developers of eCash as a chance to put advanced blockchain applications to the test. It is Sztorc\u2019s way of demonstrating that one need not wait for the wider Bitcoin community to reach a consensus, however protracted, to bring innovation to the table.<\/p>\n
