In the realm of crypto security, Algorand\u2019s quantum-resistant technology is establishing a new benchmark. The question is whether that advantage will be enough to drive up demand for ALGO in a market where the coin has a capitalization of about $11 billion.<\/p>\n
Altcoin Buzz makes the case in its most recent episode that Algorand is the leading blockchain to have implemented quantum-resistant cryptography at scale. The project has been adding Falcon-based quantum-safe capabilities to the mainnet since 2022 and in August 2026 made a further move with the introduction of native Falcon 1024. This enables transactions to be protected by signatures impervious to what quantum computers may bring in the future, leaving many competitors behind in terms of resilience.<\/p>\n
Then there is the matter of key upgrades. Algorand has an innovation that spares users the trouble of having to change wallet addresses when they want to update their signing keys; for those with post-quantum concerns, it is a welcome way to simplify long-term security.<\/p>\n
By and large, the rest of the major blockchains are not so far along. Ethereum did not form a post-quantum security team until January 2026 and does not expect to have quantum resistance in place before 2029, as Altcoin Buzz reports. Sui put ML-DSA65 quantum-resistant signatures on DevNet in October 2026 and should have them on the mainnet in the first quarter of 2027. Hedera is working towards quantum-resistant account keys in 2027 but for now is relying on SHA-384 and AES-256. Ripple has a four-phase plan to prepare the XRP Ledger against quantum threats but has not yet fully implemented it on the mainnet. Algorand has been more proactive and has the head start to show for it.<\/p>\n
Whether all this puts a floor under ALGO\u2019s price is another story. The host of Altcoin Buzz points out that from its peak the value of ALGO is down 95.5 percent, so one has to wonder if the quantum-resistant edge will rekindle any investor appetite.<\/p>\n
Technical prowess is not the only thing that moves the market. Take QANX: it came to market with quantum-resistant signatures and was up 256% in as many weeks, only to give back 14% of those gains. A case in point that while quantum resistance is essential for security, demand is driven by other considerations as well.<\/p>\n
