With the recent US debut of the Near Protocol ETF, investors are now in a position to profit from staking rewards as well as any price appreciation. As a novel offering in the crypto market, it may well be a turning point for the project and beyond.

The ETF made its official debut in the United States on 29 September 2026 with a 0.75% management fee, reports Digital Asset News. What distinguishes this product is the staking mechanism it has implemented; an investor can thus have their cake and eat it too, reaping the yield from staking while at the same time enjoying the upside of the NEAR token.

By virtue of the launch, NEAR will be more liquid and accessible to a wider array of US investors. It is a move that could go some way toward putting the protocol in good standing with traditional finance and raising its profile with institutions.

The built-in staking is perhaps the most salient feature of the Near Protocol ETF. The holder is able to forgo direct management of crypto assets and still derive a passive income from staking on top of capital gains, something not found in many other crypto investment products available in the US. For retail or institutional investors looking to diversify their returns, it is a considerable draw.

Market analysts and commentators have been taking note of the ETF’s arrival. A guest on Digital Asset News suggested that the prospect of staking combined with easier entry into the market would bring in a flood of new investors. He even put forward the possibility of a 40x valuation for NEAR, though he added the caveat that one should not put much stock in cryptocurrency forecasts given how fickle they can be.

For the wider adoption of Near Protocol, the ETF is a big step. Ilya Pushkin, the founder who is also behind some of the technology in ChatGPT, has been instrumental in the protocol’s development. With more participation coming from regulated investment vehicles, NEAR is poised to become a dominant platform in the blockchain world.
