With DEX volume at $78 billion compared to Ethereum’s $42 billion, Solana has put the latter in its shadow. The network is also making its presence felt in AI agent payments, with an efficiency that has made it the preferred venue for most X402 transactions.

CryptoJack data underscores the point: Solana has moved ahead of Ethereum to become the leading blockchain for decentralized exchange activity. In the current reporting period alone, DEX activity on Solana reached an impressive $78 billion, leaving Ethereum’s $42 billion far behind. This is a clear sign of the trust and liquidity users are placing in the network.

One need only look at the total value locked (TVL) to see the momentum. Where in June Solana’s TVL stood at around $4.9 billion, it is now in the region of $6.5 billion, a rise that speaks to the confidence of the crypto community and increased on-chain activity.

But Solana’s ascendancy is not confined to trading. According to CryptoJack, the network is the go-to for AI agent payments under the X402 standard. In the four weeks to September 22nd, 67 percent of all such transactions worldwide were conducted on Solana. The X402 standard enables the latest AI agents to conduct thousands of automated, small-scale payments autonomously; in this period, Solana has seen over 23 million of these transactions, roughly seven times what the next best blockchain can achieve.

Such figures are a testament to the technical prowess and scalability Solana brings to the table for the new wave of DeFi and AI. CryptoJack suggests that this volume of X402 processing puts Solana at the forefront of the merger between artificial intelligence and decentralized finance. With its efficient handling of AI payments, the network shows it could well be the foundation for the autonomous AI applications of tomorrow.

The surge in DEX and transaction numbers is something of a watershed moment for Solana and the industry at large. And as microtransactions from AI become standard for new dapps, the ecosystem and infrastructure of Solana are likely to attract more capital and innovation.
