The letdown has been enough to drive away some of the usual trading from everyday investors. With that kind of apathy, there are simply not as many hands in the market, which makes for a less liquid and more volatile environment.<\/p>\n
It is worth paying attention to the retail side of things; in crypto, they are often the ones moving the needle in the short run. You can see it with XRP right now \u2014 when those investors step aside, the token is left at the mercy of even the slightest shift in demand.<\/p>\n
According to Trader Nik, XRP\u2019s order books are running a bit thin at the moment. In other words, there aren\u2019t as many buy and sell orders on the table for any given price. Put simply, a thin book offers little resistance, so while the risk is higher, it can also be where you find some of the steepest moves in either direction.<\/p>\n
Then there is the matter of the big players. The numbers show a 34.4% decline in the amount of XRP from large holders making its way to exchanges over the last month. That\u2019s a sign they\u2019re not offloading as much, which eases some of the near-term pressure. But if retail doesn\u2019t step in with some fresh interest, the market is still liable to be flat or at the mercy of the odd trade.<\/p>\n
There are indications that a more robust period for XRP is on the way, driven by a pick-up in retail and overall volume. Cheeky Crypto says that with more individual investors back in the market, even a modest increase in trading can have an outsized effect; thin order books will only serve to magnify those moves as demand comes in.<\/p>\n
That said, one has to stay on top of these numbers. A spike in activity can be a double-edged sword, bringing about as much of a pullback as it does a run-up. The bottom line for those with an interest in XRP is to watch the order book and see where the retail side is heading \u2014 they will tell you what\u2019s in store for the price.<\/p>\n
