According to Johan Kerbrat, SVP and GM of Crypto and International at Robinhood, the trading volume of meme coins on Robinhood Chain has increased dramatically. In addition, the total value locked (TVL) on the new blockchain platform is estimated to be approximately $200 million, indicating a gradual recovery in the DeFi sector.<\/p>\n
In a recent episode of the Unchained podcast, Johan Kerbrat revealed that meme tokens account for nearly 85% of Robinhood Chain’s daily trading activity on decentralized exchanges, compared to just 1% for real-world assets (RWAs). This statistic illustrates how early adopters on the platform are drawn to speculation as well as cultural influences in the crypto space.<\/p>\n
Kerbrat did note that even though meme coins play a big role in generating trading volumes, Robinhood Chain was developed with a different goal in mind. The company\u2019s long-term vision is to create an ecosystem that includes RWAs and other blockchain innovations.<\/p>\n
According to Kerbrat, Robinhood Chain\u2019s launch during the crypto bear market was a well-executed strategy. Due to Robinhood\u2019s secure, open, and easy-to-use technology, many partners and dapps have joined their ecosystem.<\/p>\n
The chain has reached nearly $200 million in TVL due to meme coin trading; however, Kerbrat has stated that they plan to keep expanding their capabilities. Robinhood Chain will continue creating new asset classes, with a focus on RWAs.<\/p>\n
One of the key elements of Robinhood Chain is that it relies on USDG as the main stable asset for margin lending and liquidity instead of using traditional USDC or Tether, presenting an opportunity for innovation and the creation of new financial primitives on the blockchain.<\/p>\n
Another essential aspect of Robinhood is compliance and security, hence the cooperation with regulators to ensure all blockchain solutions meet emerging requirements.<\/p>\n
In terms of future development, Robinhood Chain intends to expand geographically with a particular focus on the US and European markets.<\/p>\n
